Our festive and bountiful space is the perfect get-together place for your friends & family, work buddies or sports teams. We also have seating at our bar as well as on two outdoor patios for more intimate dining. We like to think of Picante as a zocalo, or plaza, where people gather. It's a place where you might run into old friends or meet new ones. Picante is a gathering place where everyone is welcome—even your pooch.
Jim Maser, a Berkeley native, opened Picante in 1994 and continues to travel to Mexico's seven regions exploring its cuisine. Many employees have been with us since the beginning, giving the Picante family a sense of tradition and purpose. Heartfelt joy is sparked when guests who grew up eating here, bring the next generation through our doors.
